Harper leaves game after taking pitch to ankle

Philadelphia is holding its breath.

Phillies superstar Bryce Harper left Friday’s Grapefruit League game against the Toronto Blue Jays with an apparent injury after taking a 96-mph fastball from reliever Trent Thornton to his right ankle.

Harper, who was not wearing his shin guard during the at-bat, limped the field after being down for an extended period, according to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com. He was then seen heading into the Phillies’ clubhouse.
