Potsdam Man Allegedly Embezzled $17K From Tavern

 


A Potsdam man is accused of embezzling $17,500 from the bar he once managed.

Village police charged 40 year old Nathan Laclair with third-degree grand larceny.

Officials said Laclair was the general manager of McDuff’s Tavern on Market Street and was responsible for payroll and had access to the company credit card.

Between January 2017 and August 2018, Laclair allegedly issued himself extra paychecks in the amount of $14,400.

He’s also accused of charging a guitar, hotel rooms and bar and restaurant tabs to the company credit card. Those personal expenses totaled $3,100, police said.

Officials said the tavern’s owner confronted Laclair about the missing money in August, but Laclair fled the area.

Police said they tracked him down…
