Watertown Daily Times | Eagle rescued in Oxbow in February dies from injuries

WATERTOWN — An injured bald eagle rescued last month from a roadside in Oxbow has died.

The intensive medical treatment the eagle required led to septicemia (infection of the blood/organs) and the female bird died on March 2.

On Feb. 21, Watertown-based New York State Environmental Conservation Officer Peter J. Jackson received a report that an eagle was seen injured along County Route 24 in the hamlet of Oxbow. He placed it in his vehicle and it was rushed to Dr. David M. Plante, medical director of the VCA North Country Animal Hospital, 16760 Route 3.
