Watertown Daily Times | First Diana taxes after the dissolution of Harrisville hit a bump: computer glitch the culprit

 

HARRISVILLE — The absorption of the village of Harrisville into the town of Diana had its first casualty in the form of the 2019 property tax bill.

The county and town tax bills mailed out on Dec. 28 by the Lewis County real property department were incorrect because the fire protection district levy was not added to bills for residents living in the former village. As a result, recalculations for the town residents were also not reflected.

Before the village was dissolved, village taxpayers did not pay this levy on the town tax bill, but rather as part of their village taxes.
