A man currently serving a 20-year prison term for robbery says Christopher Hebert asked him for help taking care of Lacey Yekel’s body.
In the second day of testimony in Hebert’s murder trial in St. Lawrence County Court, Jason Scott Smith testified Hebert came to him and asked for his help.
Hebert is accused of killing Yekel in 2014 and hiding her body near the Massena Industrial Park.
Smith has known Hebert for 20 years and says they met in jail.
Jurors heard a recording of a phone call between the two men. Smith says in that call that Hebert discusses with him what to do with Yekel’s body.
Trial resumes Friday afternoon.
